What this policy covers

This policy explains how Forketta (Forketta Epicerie Gourmet S.E.N.C.) handles the personal information you share with us on forkettamtl.com — when you place an order, when you write to us, and when you simply visit. It follows Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.

We wrote it to be read. If anything is unclear, ask us — the contact details are at the bottom of this page.

Who is responsible

Karina Dodaro is responsible for the protection of personal information at Forketta and answers every request about it. Write to forkettacatering@gmail.com, or to the postal address at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

Only what an order or a question needs, and only when you give it to us.

When you place an order

Your name, email address and phone number. Your delivery address, only if you choose delivery. The date of your event, the number of guests if you give it, and any notes you add. And the language you ordered in, so we write back in it.

If your notes mention allergies or dietary needs, we use that information for one thing only — preparing your food safely.

You enter your card on Stripe's payment page, not on ours. We never see your card number — we receive only the card brand and its last four digits.

When you write to us

Your name, email address and message, plus your phone number, event date and number of guests if you fill them in. The form sends this to us as an email — nothing is stored on the site.

When you visit

Like any website, our servers and our hosting provider see the address your connection comes from — your IP address. We use it for security and to keep the site running, and it stays only briefly in routine server logs.

One cookie remembers your language, and your cart stays in your browser until you order. Details under Cookies below.

If you sign in with a link we email you, we keep a session record — including your IP address — until it expires. Ordering never requires signing in.

Why we use it

For these reasons, and no others.

• To prepare and deliver your order, and to reach you about it — a confirmation, a question, a change, a refund.
• To take your payment and, when needed, refund it.
• To answer your messages.
• To keep the accounting and tax records the law requires.
• To keep the site secure.

We don't send marketing, we have no newsletter, and we never sell or rent your information.

By placing an order or writing to us, you consent to these uses. You can withdraw that consent at any time — see Your rights below — except where the law requires us to keep a record.

Who receives it

We rely on a few service providers to run the site, take payments and send email. All of them are outside Quebec, mainly in the United States — so your information is communicated outside Quebec. Here is each one, what it receives, and why.

• Stripe — United States

  Processes your payment. Receives your email address, the names of the dishes you ordered and an order reference — never your name, phone or address. Sends us back only the card brand and its last four digits.

  Delivers every email we send you, and keeps a copy of each one for 30 days.

• Render — United States

  Hosts the site and its database. It has no Canadian region, so your order data is stored in the United States.

  Serves the photos on our gallery page, and receives your IP address when your browser loads them.

  Hosts our business mailbox. Every email about your order, and every message sent through the contact form, is held there.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it. That is the whole list.

Cookies and your browser

One cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, remembers the language you chose. It holds nothing else and disappears when you close your browser.

Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage, under forketta_cart_v1. It never leaves your device until you place an order.

If you sign in, a second cookie keeps your session open.

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts. Nothing here follows you across sites — which is why there is no cookie banner to click.

How long we keep it

Orders and payment records — for as long as Quebec and Canadian tax law requires us to keep them. After that, we remove the details that identify you (name, email, phone, address) and keep only the anonymous record of the transaction.

Emails — our email provider keeps its copy of what we send you for 30 days. Emails in our mailbox, including your messages to us, are kept as long as we need them for your order or your question, and for our records.

Server logs — briefly, for security.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or withdraw your consent to how we use it.

You can also ask us to delete it. Here is exactly what that does, and what it doesn't reach.

• We remove your name, email, phone and address from your order in our database, and your private order link stops showing your details.
• Records the law requires us to keep are kept for that period.
• Stripe's record of your payment stays with Stripe, under its own policy.
• Resend's copy of any email expires on its own within 30 days — we'll ask Resend to remove it sooner where we can.
• Emails already in our mailbox follow the retention rule above.

To make any of these requests, write to Karina Dodaro at forkettacatering@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.

If you aren't satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

How we protect it

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).

Your card details go straight to Stripe and never pass through us.

Access to order information is limited to the people who prepare your order and maintain the site.

Your order page is reachable only through the private link in your emails. Anyone with that link can see your order, so keep it to yourself.

Minors

Our services are intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top tells you when it last changed, and if a change affects what we collect or who receives it, we'll say so on this page.
